A Fife holiday park and hotel says a “staycation boom” has helped its sales increase this summer.

The Bay Hotel and Pettycur Leisure Complex in Kinghorn has reported a rise in revenues of 7% for the summer trading period.

The hotel, which recently marked 10 years since it was built, said revenues from weddings had increased thanks to a new events team.

Around 60 weddings a year are held at the hotel which overlooks the Firth of Forth.

Tommy Wallace, who has run the business with his brother Alan and father Tom for the last 34 years, said trading had been strong since the Brexit vote in 2016.

“Trading has been well up this summer and last at both the hotel and leisure park,” he said.

“It’s a post-Brexit staycation boom we think, but also reflects the investment in the wedding trade at the Bay Hotel over the past few years.

“We now have a dedicated events team and have invested in our food offering.”

The family has recently invested £100,000 into upgrading the on-site Images nightclub with a new sound and lighting system. They are also planning a renovation of the site’s restaurant.

Alan said: “We would like to see the hotel cater for even more guests in the next few years and have a number of plans for the future, especially concerning the wedding market.”
