Miller has no regrets over leaving champions for struggling Dundee

Calvin Miller insists he didn’t have to think twice about leaving champions Celtic to move on loan to Dundee – the side currently sitting bottom of the Premiership.

The 20-year-old was one of the few positives on another dismal day for the Dark Blues at Dens as their terrible start to the season continued with a 3-1 defeat to Motherwell.

Neil McCann’s side are rooted to the foot of the table without a point to their name. However, Miller, who is normally a full-back, admits he is relishing battling for his new club in a more advanced left-wing position.

He said: “Obviously I knew that (Dundee were bottom) before coming in. But I am a person who wants to help and I thought I could bring something to this team.

“The gaffer spoke to my agent and said that I could play higher up the park, so for me I instantly wanted to come here because I can definitely do that.

“I think I showed that against Motherwell and hopefully in the next game I can get a start. I need to prove a point and win battles. At Celtic we are used to playing and we do play as well at Dundee and I like that.

“But it is only going to benefit me in the long run getting this game time and seeing this level of football.”

Meanwhile, McCann admitted that a failure to take the lead in games is affecting the confidence of his players.

He said: “We are clearly disappointed we lost another game but we started last season like this and got going.

“We have added a number of players to the group and I thought they performed well.

“It is tough for us at the minute. I would love to see us taking the lead as I think it will give us that release.

“I think we are playing quite tight at the moment and you can see we are lacking in confidence.

“We keep giving ourselves a lot to do. “I don’t think there is a lack of belief. We are just lacking in confidence at the moment.”
