COLINSBURG­H. President E Goodall welcomed everyone to members’ night. Nancy Philp showed different crafts done on holidays she had been on and Jean Forgan read funny stories. Competitio­ns: small jar of raspberry jam – 1 E Goodall, 2 Frances Winton; flower of the month – Irene Hamilton. NEW GILSTON and WOODSIDE. President Jean Carr welcomed David Smith form Largo Art Club and he showed the ladies how to paint a patch, which when put together made up a bigger picture. Competitio­n: glass of non-alcoholic summer fruit punch – 1 Eileen Reynolds, 2 Pip Coutts-Wood. MADDERTY. The opening meeting will be held on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Madderty Hall. Cheryl Douglas will give a talk on colour analysis. New members and visitors welcome. INVERARITY. Meetings resume on Thursday at 7.15pm in Inverarity Church Hall. All welcome. TARFSIDE. The annual cheese and wine evening was held in the Masonic Hall. Food was provided by the ladies of the WRI and the cheese and wine was supplied by the WRI. Dance music was played by Scott and Sandy. The first meeting will be held at The Retreat, Glenesk, on September 20 at 7.30pm. PADANARAM. The opening meeting is on Wednesday in St Margaret’s Church Hall in Forfar at 7.30pm. Louise Nicoll will give a talk on alpacas.

CARNBEE. President Catherine Brunton introduced Sally Brown, from Grangemuir Farm, Pittenweem, who gave a talk on fruit and broccoli

farming. Competitio­ns: filled baked potato – Pat Richardson; flower of the month – Jean Davis.

LUNANHEAD. Mrs Sturrock opened the new session and introduced Free Wheeling. Bill, Alfie, Joyce and Alana entertaine­d with songs and ballads. Competitio­ns: two pieces of tablet – 1 A Beattie,

There will be a talk by a member of Mealmakers and there will also be a bring and buy sale. ABERDOUR and DALGETY BAY. The next meeting is on September 12 in The Institute, Shore Road, Aberdour, at 7.15pm. Money raised at the After 8 Mince concert in April will be presented to a speaker from Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance. CORTACHY. May Kidd gave a talk on the work of Associated Country Women of the World. Trophy winners: Ward ha ugh Mitchell Trophy–PatsyP at on, runner-up – Sandra Boath; Horticultu­re Cup – Patsy Paton, runner-up – Sandra Boath; flower of the month trophy – Patsy Paton. New committee: Sandra Boath, Caroline Lang, Susan McLaren, Margaret Mackie, Patsy Paton, Caroline Smith, Hazel Hood, Pat Harrow and June Rae. The summer outing was a visit to Castle Hill in Forfar, followed by a meal at the Castle Club. Incoming president Sandra Boath thanked retiring president Moira Ronan. The first meeting of the session is on Wednesday in Memus Hall at 7.30pm.
