Sex offender flees his home after group protest in Kirkcaldy
A convicted sex offender was forced to flee from his accomodation in Kirkcaldy after furious locals discovered his identity.
Police were called to a protest on Lawson Street at around 4.15pm on Sunday after windows of a ground floor flat were smashed.
Uniformed officers arrived on the scene and took David Jackson away in an unmarked police car.
The 37-year-old previously appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court on August 30 where he admitted sending sexual images and video to an adult posing as a child under 13.
He was caught by a paedophile hunter group called Wolf Pack Hunters UK who set up a decoy profile for a 12-year-old boy called Cameron.
Jackson, previously of Kelty, was confronted by the hunter group when he went to Dunfermline’s Pittencrieff Park after arranging to meet the decoy.
A spokeswoman said: “Police in Fife were in attendance at a demonstration outside a property in the Kirkcaldy area on Sunday September 2.
“The matter was resolved and no further police action was taken.”
A spokesperson for Fife Council said: “Fife Council has a duty to accommodate offenders.
“This is done in line with national policy outlined in the Management of Offenders (Scotland) Act 2005 and through a Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangement.
“Agencies use the National Accommodation Strategy for Sex Offenders and through this process levels of risk are carefully assessed, risk management strategies are put in place and ongoing monitoring is undertaken.”
