Martin hopes to make most of Pars switch
Malaury Martin has confessed he had no choice but to leave Hearts before the transfer deadline last Friday for the sake of his stalled career.
The Frenchman has joined Dunfermline on a season-long loan after being left frozen out of the firstteam picture at Tynecastle under Jambos manager Craig Levein.
The 30-year-old still has two campaigns left on the three-and-ahalf-year contract he penned with Hearts in January 2017 but last played for the Gorgie men more than 12 months ago.
However, now the frustrated former Monaco, Middlesbrough and Lillestrom midfielder is determined to prove himself in Scottish football by helping Dunfermline to success this term.
He said: “The assistant-manager at Hearts (Austin MacPhee) told me about the interest from Dunfermline and asked me about it.
“Straight away, I said ‘yes’ because I need to go back out and compete, and also I felt the club was a good opportunity for me.
“I’m not at all in the plans of Craig Levein so, for me, the most important thing was to get back out on to the pitch. I have played against Dunfermline and I know that this club is famous in Scotland. That was one part of the reason why I came here.
“I don’t like to talk about myself, the most simple answer to what I can bring to Dunfermline is on the pitch.”
l Bradford have named David Hopkin as their new manager.
The Bantams fired Michael Collins on Monday night after a poor start to the campaign and former Livingston boss Hopkin yesterday signed a twoyear deal as his successor.
