No fear the key for Fifers against Jags

-

East Fife welcome Partick Thistle to the Locality Hub Bayview and boss Darren Young has told his players not to be fearful of the Championship side.

Young said if the Fifers play like they can they can secure a place in the last 16.

There is a belief in the East Fife camp the Methil side got their season up and running last weekend with a 2-0 win at Montrose last weekend.

Young said: “If we play like we did at Links Park then we can compete against a good Thistle team.

“They had a great win over Morton last weekend in rather bizarre circumstances when their goal was not given however our boys did what we have been asking them to do.

“They made chances, they converted them and then they held on.

“We had to defend deep for a period in the second half but we came through it.”

Young added: “We have taken a lot of confidence from winning but we had gone there in a decent frame of mind.

“We had only picked up one point but we should have won at Raith Rovers and we created loads of chances against Arbroath before losing to them.

“We encouraged the boys to stick at what they had been doing but to avoid mistakes.

“Making errors resulted in us being punished and we stressed the need for an error-free performance.

“They put one in but we also played with a bit of composure as could be seen from the first goal where we put together a lot of passes before Ross Davidson cracked a shot home from 20 yards.”

Scott Linton, Mark Docherty and Kevin Smith are now over injuries and are included in Young’s pool.
