Hearts welcome former SPFL club East Stirlingshire

-

Kelty Hearts rattled in eight goals without reply in midweek against Edinburgh United in the Football Nation EOS Cup.

Hat-trick hero Matty Gay, two-goal Stuart Cargill, Ross Mutch, Brian Ritchie and Murray Carstairs were the men to find the net.

However, as they return to Lowland League action, they won’t find it quite so easy against visitors East Stirlingshire.

A meeting with the former SPFL club is arguably the biggest home match of the season and the Fifers are expecting a big crowd.

The Shire trail their hosts by just three points, albeit with a game more played.

East of Scotland League Conference A

Oakley United and Hill of Beath have regularly locked horns in their junior days, but this is their first clash in the senior ranks.

Although hosts Oakley have a point more than Haws, the visitors have only played one league game which they won.

However, the Keirs Park outfit make the short journey to Blairwood Park minus the services of five players with Lee Reid, Kevin Connors, Lewis Elder, Daniel Watt and Calum Rarity all ruled out.

Conference B

Leaders Dundonald Bluebell host fellow Fifers Burntisland Shipyard and will be very much favourites to maintain top spot.

For the first time this season, the Bluebell have a full squad against opponents that are pointless after their two opening league games.

After three successive defeats, albeit narrow ones to high-flying Bo’ness United, Crossgates will be delighted to be meeting different opponents in Sauchie, especially as they took their scalp in the Qualifying League Cup section.

Primrose were 2-1 winners at Beechwood Park thanks to an own goal and a Darren Aitken counter and given they now have home advantage, they must fancy their chances of picking up their first league points at the third attempt.

Conference C

St Andrews manager Andy Brown was delighted with last week’s first League win over Craigroyston and is looking for the side to show the same attitude in today’s game away to Inverkeithing HS.

Drew Fleming returns from injury after a fourweek absence with Saints almost at full strength against managerless opponents after Lee Richardson resigned last week.
