ST VIGEANS. Meetings resume tonight at 7.30 in the church hall.

RATTRAY. The opening meeting of the new session is on Monday September 17 at 7pm for 7.15 in Rattray Hall, Balmoral Road. Dr Bharti Rajput will talk on caring for your feet.

KIRRIEMUIR. The first meeting of the season takes place on Wednesday September 19 at 2pm in the Glens and Old Parish Church small hall. Jonathan Mitchell will give a talk titled My Life As A Painter.

GLENCARSE. President Kate Hamilton welcomed new members. Jessica Monroe demonstrat­ed an array of Japanese dishes. Competitio­ns: Japanese fan – 1 B Coghill, 2 N Butcher, 3 C Forbes; fish paté – 1 C Forbes, 2 B Watson, 3 K Hamilton. ERROL. President Ruth McKillop welcomed members. Ann Keith gave a talk on how women are cared for during pregnancy and birth and how midwifery has changed over the years. Competitio­ns: knitted baby hat – 1 June Lawson, 2 Freda Scott, 3 Helen Mitchell; teddy bear – 1 Nancy Robertson, 2 June Lawson, 3 Betty Lewis; flower of the month – June Lawson. AUCHTERTOO­L. During the summer break members enjoyed outings to the Bothy restaurant at the Buffalo Farm, Boglily, Kirkcaldy, and the woodland gardens of Glassmount House, Kirkcaldy, and to Morrisons, Kirkcaldy, for a tour. The first meeting of the new session was a visit to Blacketysi­de Farm Shop. Farm owner Mrs Todd gave a talk before serving tea, scones and cakes.

LOGIE PERT. Patricia and Mike Ray, with dogs Wilma and Summer, gave a talk on Guide Dogs puppy training. Margaret Young and her team gave a talk on Mary’s Meals. PITCAIRNGR­EEN. The new session begins in the village hall on September 19 at 7.30pm. The speaker will be Phil Hannah who will talk on metal detecting. LETHAM AND DISTRICT (Angus). President Lynne Webster welcomed members. Maureen MacLeod, the recently–elected chairman of Angus Federation, spoke briefly. Jess Smith, gave a talk on her life in a travelling family. DISTRICT. Meetings resume on Friday at 7pm in the new venue at Baldridgeb­urn Institute. Arthur Lloyd will give a talk about North Alaska.

DUNNING. President Lesley McRae welcomed everyone. Helen Quartermai­ne demonstrat­ed the art of basket work. FARNELL. Meetings resume at 7.30pm on Wednesday September 19 in the SWRI Hall. Speaker will be Angus Whitson, The Courier’s Man with Two Dogs. TANNADICE and OATHLAW. President Angela Hamper welcomed members. George McLean and Andy Menmuir, from St Andrew’s First Aid, gave a talk and demonstrat­ion on resuscitat­ion. INVERARITY. President June Richardson welcomed members and guests, including Federation president Maureen McLeod, to the institute’s 98th anniversar­y. The cake was cut by Mrs Pate and Mrs Watson. Laura Baird from Wiltshire Farm Foods was the speaker. Competitio­ns: flower of the month

KINGSMUIR. The first meeting of the new session is a gin tasting evening with The Gin Bothy on Wednesday at 7.30pm in Kingsmuir Hall.

ST CYRUS. Members visited Castleton fruit farm, near Laurenceki­rk, run by Ross and Anna Mitchell, and Ross’s parents. Anna provided refreshmen­ts at the end of the evening. INVERKEILO­R. Meetings resume on Wednesday September 19 in the church hall instead of the village hall. CARNOUSTIE MUIRDRUM. Meetings resume tomorrow at 7.15pm in Erskine Church hall, Kinloch Street, Carnoustie.
