Glenrothes firm Pitreavie Group has announced a £650,000 investment to develop its packaging business.

The funds will be used to install a new IT system, hire five additional staff and market the business.

Pitreavie is based at Southfield Industrial Estate and has sites in Glasgow and Aberdeen.

The eight-year-old company, founded by friends Gordon Delaney and Joe Diamond, employs around 100 people and has an annual turnover in excess of £13 million.

Clients include Ingenico, Brewdog and Halliburtons.

Mr Delaney said: “We’ve learned the importance of always investing ahead of sales. We have significant future plans and by spending in these areas, we’re preparing for continued growth.

“Exceptional customer service underpins all that we do. This investment means we’ll have the best people to deliver that customer service and the tools to help them do so.”

The new roles will consist of three regional managers, a financial controller and a supply and logistics director.

The improved IT system will enable greater efficiency accessing Pitreavie’s database of products.

The new investment follows a £1m injection into SorbaFreeze Chilled Packaging Specialists, bought by Pitreavie Group in 2015.

The seven-figure sum was used to purchase equipment to aid production of the company’s temperaturecontrolled packaging solutions and also for research in developing ice pack technology. Mr Diamond added: “We have the buying power and storage that our customers can benefit from.

“We pass on savings and space to our clients, adding value to their business and streamlining the procurement process.”
