Kerr more than happy to show his versatility

-

Cammy Kerr insists he would play any position on the park just so long as manager Neil McCann continues to select him in the team.

The 23-year-old right-back has been selected at left-back by his boss recently with the player admitting he is getting used to the switch.

However, he is more concerned with helping the Dark Blues secure their first league points of the season – hopefully at Ibrox this afternoon – rather than any positional problems.

Kerr said: “I am doing fine. I would play anywhere for Dundee.

“I am not saying that just for the sake of it. Wherever the manager puts me I will play. I won’t shrug my shoulders and be annoyed. I am happy to play and I want to play every game for this club.

“If the manager tells me I am playing up front, I will play up front.

“As long as I am in that team I am happy doing everything I can to help.”

Kerr added: “Obviously, it is not good when you have not won or picked up any points. But to be fair, maybe bar the Motherwell game, we have shown signs of how good we can be this year.

“You have to remain confident and I am not worried about not having points on the board. We have a very good dressing room with a lot of characters.

“I just think we have been unlucky in games and we have also shot ourselves in the foot with some of the mistakes.

“Maybe putting a chance or two in at the other end would help us.

“The fans are understandably frustrated but we know we just have to pick up results.

“It is just about keeping the head down and staying focused on getting that victory.”

Dundee will start as huge underdogs against Steven Gerrard’s Rangers in Govan.

However, Kerr insists he and his team-mates are convinced they can prove the doubters wrong.

He said: “We are probably being written off but the focus throughout the whole week has been about getting a result. I firmly believe we can go there and pick up something.

“You need to have that belief that you can take something from every game.”
