Courier favourite to talk poetry

-

The Courier’s Man with Two Dogs will share his love of Scottish poetry at an event in Fife.

Angus Whitson will explore the country’s forgotten poetry at Colinsburgh Galloway Library.

The well-loved columnist, who has written about country matters for The Courier for 16 years, will lead a conversation over tea and coffee and home baking on Saturday October 6.

Colinsburgh’s library was one of several closed by Fife Council and Fife Cultural Trust but resurrected by local volunteers.

It reopened just over a year ago under community management and has run a series of events, as well as lending books.

Library chairman Mac Logan said: “It’s a joy to have Angus Whitson coming to share his passion for authentic and largely unknown Scots poetry.

“As the Man with Two Dogs he is very popular with the folk in country communities in Fife and the north-east.

“Angus Whitson’s research is, in itself, a national treasure.

“His depth of knowledge and enthusiasm means he is saving an important cultural legacy for future generations.

“We are grateful to Angus for providing such a valuable and entertaining contribution to our community library programme as we develop our programme for the future.”
