Angus arable estate launches on market with price of £4.3m
Land includes range of farm buildings and salmon fishing rights
More than 500 acres of arable Angus land together with a range of houses, farm buildings and salmon fishing rights on the South Esk has been launched on the market at £4.3 million.
The estate of Craigeassie, once well known as the home of the Hurdcott herd of Aberdeen-Angus cattle, is situated seven miles from Forfar on the eastern edge of the Vale of Strathmore.
The land around the farm buildings is mainly down to grass to facilitate the estate’s livestock enterprise and some acres are let for potatoes and peas.
A separate parcel of land extending to 302 acres and comprising mostly arable with some mixed woodland is also available for sale.
The sale parcel includes a mix of traditional and modern farm buildings for grain storage and housing livestock, a seven-bedroom principal house with four reception rooms and a Victorian-style conservatory and four estate cottages.
Two of the cottages require renovation but selling agents Savills suggest these may provide potential opportunities for diversification, 144 acres of woodland and salmon fishing rights.
Savills Tayside director Rory Galloway said: “The launch of Craigeassie on to the market is a significant event in the region.
“With a particularly handsome country house and a reputation for producing outstanding pedigree cattle, we anticipate Craigeassie will attract interest from far afield and from a diverse range of potential buyers.”
