Back Bombyx to make a splash at Yarmouth

Fanshawe’s three-year-old is looking useful following two good efforts

- THE FERRET

BOMBYX is fancied to defy top-weight in the feature race on the opening afternoon of the three-day fixture at Yarmouth.

Trained by James Fanshawe, threeyear-old has shown himself to be a useful performer this term, after winning the second of his two starts as a juvenile.

Following two solid efforts at the start of the season, he was odds on to beat one serious rival on a scorching afternoon at Doncaster in July, and did so with the minimum of fuss.

He was tried in Group Three company at Goodwood, in what was a tidy little renewal of the Gordon Stakes, and while Cross Counter and Dee Ex Bee were too good, there was no disgrace in his third-placed effort.

The Dan Hague, Yarmouth’s Number 1 Bookmaker Handicap offers a good chance to return to winning ways.

SWINDLER went within a nose of making a winning debut at Windsor a month ago and should waste no more time in opening his account by taking the British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes.

Ed Walker’s juvenile was edged out by Fares Kodiac, who did the form no harm when third in a decent race at Doncaster on Wednesday.

PURSUING STEED can follow up a cosy Doncaster success in the Get So Much More With Racing UK Apprentice Handicap at Redcar.

The Hughie Morrison-trained fouryear-old showed a straight seven furlongs on a galloping track was right up his street when he stayed on strongly under a Rab Havlin to score by a neck.

He looked to win with a bit in hand, so a 5lb rise looks fair.
