Open window of opportunity

Established in 1998, City Blinds is now a leading provider of window blinds in the north-east of Scotland. Owners Kevin and Marion McGee have developed the business and have showrooms in Dundee and Aberdeen, with an ever-growing customer base often built on repeat orders or client recommendations. City Blinds offers an extensive range of window blind types including vertical, roller and Venetian styles and other blinds which cater to the more designer-led market. Vertical blinds can be supplied in a choice of materials including rigid styles which are ideal for customers with pets – they don’t have the bottom stabilising chain and are easy to clean, which is a must when pet hair is involved!

Venetian blinds are available in an amazing range of colours with matt and gloss finishes so you can really make an individual choice to suit your home and lifestyle. These are available with slats sized 16mm, 25mm and 35mm. If you need roller blinds, City Blinds can offer a massive selection of materials in any colour, pattern or finish. Straight finishes are the top choice for many customers at the moment, with fewer people opting for scalloped detail.

Night and Day roller blinds are a fantastic option for householders who need privacy from their blinds during the day but still like to let a lot of light into their home. These double-clothed blinds feature dense and open horizontal detail which lets light in during the day and can be closed up for nighttime. Bi-fold doors can present a challenge when it comes to window coverings for privacy or warmth but the newly-developed INTU Micro system has been especially developed with bi-folds in mind. This sleek, narrow blind fits over the glass area of the door, allowing them to be opened and moved without affecting the operation of the door. They are available in a range of pleated fabrics.

Another growing trend is internal window shutters – this is a bespoke product available in a range of colours, of which white seems to be the most popular. They are made of a composite material and can be used on any window in the home.

If you have grown accustomed to the outdoor lifestyle this summer and want to keep using your garden or patio into autumn, why not consider extending your outdoor space with a stunning awning? These are available in block colour or striped styles and can even be remotely operated. They have automatic wind sensors to retract them when it gets too windy.

Another technical innovation proving popular with homeowners is remotely-operated window blinds. Systems can be operated in single units or programmed to operate in several rooms.

With all this and much more on offer, why not visit Kevin and Marion in their showrooms to find out how you could transform your home with City Blinds. The couple are delighted to be celebrating 20 years in business this year and are extremely grateful to their loyal customers for their continued support.
