Community events allow public to help shape future of villages

-

The public will have a chance to shape the future of two Fife villages this week.

Falkland and Newton of Falkland Community Council has secured funding to develop plans to improve key streets and paths in both villages.

The community council is inviting the public to share ideas of how to make improvements to walking and cycling routes and connections to public transport on Saturday.

The events will also see the public able to share their views on how to improve traffic management and parking, along with ways to help curb traffic speeds.

Making Falkland and Newton’s Community Links has been funded by the Scottish Government, through Sustrans, Scotland’s community links programme.

In collaboration with the community council, a team of architects, planners, artists and engineers are looking to work with the communities to develop a shared vision.

Members of the team will be available to hear the public’s views in both villages in a programme of events.

Events run in Falkland Community Hall from 11am to 4pm and throughout the day there will be a drop-in studio, while at 11am and 2.15pm there will be 15-minute presentations.

There will also be a transport walk and talk session at 11.15am and 2.30pm.

Meanwhile, in Newton of Falkland village hall there will be a 15-minute launch presentation at noon followed by a transport walk and talk event at 12.15pm.

The session in Newton of Falkland ends at 1.30pm.

All events are free and open to all.
