Kelty book a Scottish Cup trip up to Peterhead

-

Kelty Hearts booked a second round tie away to Peterhead after beating Dalbeattie Star 3-1 in their William Hill Scottish Cup replay at New Central Park.

They could not have wished for a better start, Stuart Cargill crashing in a 25-yarder after just four minutes.

Two minutes from the interval, Brian Ritchie doubled the lead with a header and Stephen Husband added a third.

Lewis Todd got Star’s consolation counter.

In the East of Scotland League Conference A a Daniel Watt goal earned Hill of Beath a victory at Dunbar United.

Meanwhile, although Oakley lost 2-1 at home to Musselburgh, boss Richard Fox was far from downcast.

He said, “We have a small squad and with nine out and down to the bare bones, we still managed to compete against one of the top sides in the league.”

After going behind to Mathu King’s opener on 20 minutes, Derek Murray fired the Fifers level from a free-kick six minutes later.

However, Oakley’s hopes of a point were cruelly dashed by Nathan Evans’ penalty conversion ten minutes from time.

Both Fife clubs in Conference B lost. Burntisland Shipyard lost 3-0 at home to Bo’ness, for whom Brian Morgan, Aldin Elizaboudi and Kieran Sweeney scored.

Meanwhile, Crossgates Primrose slipped to a 2-1 defeat at Dalkeith Thistle, with Scott Hynd on target for the Humbug Parkers.

In Conference C, Jeanfield Swifts crushed Craigroyston at the Riverside Stadium, scoring nine.

With five goals, Chris Dodd was destroyer-in-chief with Christopher Scott, Aaron Whitehead, Robbie Holden and Connor McLaren the others on target.

St Andrews boss Andy Brown expected a difficult game when Camelon called in at Barnetts Park and that proved an all-too accurate prediction as the Mariners were 3-0 winners.

Ross Cameron gave the visitors a half-time lead and Kieran Anderson’s second-half double sunk Saints.
