Reward offered after pensioner threatened during robbery

-

A £5,000 reward has been offered for information after a 76-year-old woman was subjected to a terrifying robbery.

The pensioner was threatened and restrained in her own home by a man who stole a number of items before making off. The incident happened in Crossford on Friday May 4.

The reward pledge comes after Police Scotland released CCTV images of a man they are seeking in connection with the case. He is 5ft 8in and medium build with short, light hair. He spoke with an accent which may have been Eastern European and is believed to have links to the Greenock and the Clackmannanshire areas.

Crimestoppers has put up the reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the man responsible for the attack.

Scotland national manager Angela Parker said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim and what she went through is something I cannot even begin to imagine.

“The man responsible is clearly someone who does not care who he hurts, how much suffering he inflicts, regardless of whether that person is vulnerable or not.”

She stressed any calls would be treated as confidential.

“Our charity guarantees that everyone who contacts us stays 100% anonymous, always,” she said.

“We’ve kept that promise for our 30-year history. No-one will know you contacted us and it could be your information that makes the difference.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Information passed directly to the police will not qualify for the reward.
