Mitsubishi ASX range simpler
Mitsubishi’s ASX has been around for eight years now and is getting a little bit tired.
Indeed, it’s due for replacement soon. Until then, Mitsubishi has simplified the UK range, replacing numerous models with a single, high-spec version.
Having already ditched diesel in the Outlander, the company is now doing so with the ASX, which is available as a petrol model only.
Priced from £19,195 on-the-road, the Mitsubishi ASX Juro will include 18-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, privacy glass, front fog lamps, keyless entry and go with start/stop, climate control air conditioning, front seat heaters, cruise control, Smartphone Link Display Audio with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, DAB radio, and a reverse camera.
Metallic paint, at £525, is the only optional extra on offer.
Updated styling includes a chunky new rear bumper, revised front end styling, and new centre console design.
The ASX Juro is still powered by Mitsubishi’s 1.6-litre MIVEC petrol engine, a 117hp unit that gives the model a 0-62mph time of 12.2 seconds and a top speed of 113mph. A combined fuel economy of 41.5mpg is achievable, with CO2 emissions of 155 g/km.
To sweeten the deal, Mitsubishi dealers are even throwing in a deposit contribution of £2,000 if you take an ASX on their PCP finance deal.
Meanwhile, a legendary car from the 1990s is to make a comeback. Toyota is to release a new Supra, which will go on sale in the UK from next year.
The company has announced online reservations are open for its high-end sports car.
Customers had better act fast, though, because just 300 slots are available for a 2019 delivery.
A £1,000 deposit will secure you a place on the list and people who place an online reservation will get the chance to place an official order when they open in early 2019.
The £1,000 is fully refundable if customers change their mind.
Toyota GB marketing director Andrew Cullis says that “with only limited numbers available, we want to give people the earliest opportunity to secure their vehicle”.
Prototypes of the new-generation Supra have already appeared at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show and Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The new Supra shares a platform and parts with BMW’s latest Z4.
Although the Supra and new Z4 have been jointly developed – and look to share the same architecture, engine and gearbox – there will be differences.
The main one seems to be that Toyota will use a 335bhp turbo straight six to deliver a more focused sports car, rather than the ‘softer’ convertible BMW seem to be planning. I’m looking forward to driving both.
