Kelty social club hours increased

-

A Fife social club operating reduced hours due to noise complaints has been permitted to open later again.

Kelty Hearts Football Club’s licence was restricted to 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 10pm every other day due to nuisance reported by a neighbour.

However, Fife Licensing Board allowed a variation of the hours to 1am and 11pm after hearing of the work done to reduce noise emanating from the premises.

Work included blocking off of some windows and fitting of double glazing to others and installation of sound proofing materials.

The smoking area and taxi pick-up point had also been moved and customers were asked to leave the premises quietly.

The board heard that the social club was an integral part of the club’s fundraising activities, supporting its activities in the community and with local children.

It was also told that there had been no verified complaints since the reduced hours were in operation.

The club’s representative also said it was committed to providing well-run premises and prepared to act on advice given.

Assurance was given, he said, that there was no intention to play loud music into the early hours.

Board member Councillor Alistair Cameron congratulated the club on its efforts.
