Funeral of premature baby who died following road accident

-

The funeral of a premature baby who died following a car crash in Fife is to be held this week.

Mourners are being asked to wear an item of baby blue clothing in memory of little Luke Aubury who died on October 3.

Mum Shannon Myers, who was 30 weeks pregnant, was the front-seat passenger in a car which was involved in a collision with a Transit van near Auchtertool.

The 18-year-old suffered serious neck and abdomen injuries and was rushed to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy, where medics performed an emergency caesarean.

But Luke, who is survived by a nine-month-old brother, could not be saved and died a short time later.

Friends and family have set up a fundraising page to help cover the costs of the funeral, which will take place in Dalgety Bay on Wednesday.

Miss Myers, of Portobello near Edinburgh, said her “handsome little boy” would always be loved.

She added: “I promise you now Luke you’ll always be in our hearts and I’m gonna make you proud.”

Police are still appealing for witnesses to the late-night collision on the B9157 which left three other occupants of the Seat Leon injured.

A 59-year-old man, 43-yearold woman and a 10-year-old girl, who were occupants of the Transit, were also treated for minor injuries.

Witnesses with information can call the road policing unit in Fife via 101 and quote incident number 4044 of October 3.
