Breeding cattle up for sale

Caledonian Marts Ltd had forward 248 beef breeding cattle including heifer calves with breeding potential. Champion heifer with calf was from John McAllister, West Thomaston, Banknock, and made £3,800 to Ballechin Farms, Ballinluig. Reserve heifer with calf was from Craig and Katreen Malone, Pitcairn, Cardenden, and sold for £3,200 to Campbeltown. A total of 238 breeding tups sold to £600 for a Texel Shearling from Easter Dullatur. A total of 1,054 breeding ewes sold to £140 for a pen of one-crop ewes from Shielhill; 695 gimmers sold to £140 for a pen of Texels from Shielhill; and 202 ewe lambs sold to £90 for Chev/Mules from Bridgehouse.
