The redeveloped site of the former Scrimgeour’s department store in Crieff, destroyed by fire in the late 1970s, has gained a High Commendation in the 1993 Regeneration Design Award. The judging panel considered the housing project eradicated an eyesore and successfully married two different streets. Seen as an important addition to the area, it is described as “well planned and appreciated by its occupants.” The architects are Nicoll Russell Studios of Broughty Ferry.

Council leader Ian Campbell said: “There are many reasons why Perth and Kinross would rate so highly.”
