Water level rise aids fishing at Kingennie

The rain has helped to flush the system through and raise the water level slightly at FORBES OF KINGENNIE.

The Boathouse Pool fished well this week. Chris Skivington was top rod returning 16 fish on catch and release with the biggest being a rainbow estimated at 12lb.

Mr Egan released 15 fish with the best being a magnificen­t blue trout estimated at 9lb.

Ian Gordon found the formula on the Burnside Pool, returning 11 fish. Robert Gibson and Grant Burnett released 10 fish each with the latter including a fine rainbow estimated at 8lb.

The Bankside Pool fished steadily with Jock Leslie returning eight and Mr Stevens releasing 12. Bob Anderson took four for 14lb and returned a further three.

Green and black patterns produced the best results.

On the Woodside Pool the best option has again been Powerbait fished beneath a float.

On Sunday 39 fish were caught for a combined weight of 75lb.

FRANDY FISHERY

is still producing great catches this month.

From the bank John Paisley from Cupar kept four weighing 9lb and released a further four, Wilson Orr (Tullibody) caught two for 5lb and released 13, Davie Richardson (Kincardine) caught two weighing 4lb 8oz and released six, Ian Wilkie (Madderty) kept two weighing 4lb and released 16, and Derek Fowler from Dunipace caught and released nine.

Those fishing from the boats did well with Jimmy and George Ross from Pitlochry keeping 10 fish weighing 23lb and releasing a further eight, Billy Thomson and Tosh Stewart (Auchterard­er) kept 10 fish weighing 24lb 12oz and released a further four.

The top catching flies and lures included the Cormorant, Tequila Fab, Yellow and Coral Dancer, Cats Whisker, Hoppers, Sedge Muddler and the Hot Head Damsel.

ORCHILL TROUT FISHERY is fishing well again this week now the water has cooled.

J Robb from Tullibody had three for 9lb on a Hare’s Ear, John Score (Alloa) four weighing 11lb 8oz on an HH Ally, William Williams (Sauchie) three for 8lb on a Green and Black Montana, Alec Fitzsimmon­s (Fintry) four for 11lb on a Black and Green Fritz and Harry Isherwood (Cumbernaul­d) took one for 3lb on a Klinkhamme­r. LAKE OF MENTEITH. The stock pens will be pushed ashore next week and access to all of Gateside Bay will be possible from Tuesday.

There should be quite “a few wide-tailed specimen residents” featuring in the catches after this date.

The last three Sunday fishing days start at 11am on October 21 and 28 and November 4. Prices are reduced pro-rata after the clocks go back.

The Kirk and School Day is on November 4 which brings to an end the main season.

There are 13 boats left for the event.

All-inclusive tickets for two anglers’ catch and release is great value at £45.

Winter opening at the lake is restricted to week days only from November onwards apart from the Kirk and School Day and the Pike Club days.
