Event bids to cut crash casualties

-

New and young drivers have been invited to learn how to keep safe behind the wheel.

This year’s Safe Drive Stay Alive roadshow will highlight the dangers that can exist on roads across Fife.

Organised by the Fife Community Safety Partnership, the session will include experts from all the emergency services who will explain their role in the event of a collision.

Families who have been through the trauma of road crashes or lost loved ones in collisions will also talk about their experiences.

The roadshows are aimed at cutting deaths and serious injuries and can include harrowing testimony designed to hammer home the safe driving message.

Participants are shown what can happen when drivers are not in control of their surroundings, such as when someone is driving while using a mobile phone or without wearing a seatbelt.

Now in its 16th year, the Fife Safe Drive Stay Alive scheme has welcomed thousands of fifth and sixth year pupils since its launch in 2002.

This year’s gathering takes place at Rothes Halls, Glenrothes, on Wednesday November 7 at 7.15pm.

Parents, existing drivers and all other road users are also welcome to attend.

Tickets are free and can be booked by phoning Rothes Halls on 01592 611101 or online at www.onfife.com
