Rescobie reaches end of strange season

The loch at RESCOBIE closes today after a strange season.

Gales closed the loch at the start and end of the season with very high temperatur­es during the summer.

Best bags of the last full week included: Brian Murchie four for 16lb 6oz with the heaviest fish weighing 6lb; Eric Sellars, four for 16lb; Bob Buick, four for 14lb 4oz; Dave Watson, four for 12lb; Jock Craig four for 11lb 9oz.

Fish of the month winners were: March – John Malloch, 4lb 4oz rainbow; April – George Irvine, 10lb 6oz rainbow; May – Allan Wood, 6lb 6oz blue; June – Don Paton 5lb 4oz brownie; July – Alan Beetie, 8lb 14oz brownie; August – Allan Wood, 8lb 4oz brownie, September – Bob Henderson, 9lb 4oz brownie; October – Stan Morrison, 6lb 3oz rainbow.

MONIKIE had another good week, with the Island pond seeing 13 boats (18 rods) keeping 67 fish for 127lb 13oz and returning a further 29.

The North saw three boats (three rods) keeping four for 10lb 9oz.

Notable returns on Island pond: J Gibb, kept five fish for 8lb 12oz and returned one; A Craig, four for 8lb; G Bruce, four for 6lb 8oz and returned three; D Robertson, five for 9lb 2oz; D Roy, one at 2lb and returned eight; M Tidcombe and P Kilminster, nine fish for 16lb 8oz and returned four; F Chalmers, five for 8lb; K Robertson and P Glen, eight for 17lb 9oz and returned six.

Successful patterns included claret cormorant, sparkler boobies and a small pink booby.

At FORBES OF KINGENNIE, the Boathouse was discoloure­d but still saw steady catches with rainbows of 11lb 9oz, 9lb 7oz and 7.5lb.

Grant Burnett released 10 fish including a rainbow of 12lb and another of 9lb. Another rainbow, returned by Ian Barlow, was estimated at 12lb.

Favoured patterns included daddy longlegs variations, yellow owl, black/silver buzzers and black/green lures.

On the Bankside Pool Frank Sherriff returned six fish in a short session and Nick Soave took four for 8lb.

Black/green lures and yellow dancer had reasonable success.

Powerbait fished beneath a float again proved to be the best option on the Woodside Pool (any legal method). On Sunday eight anglers landed 17 fish for a total of 30lb.

Last week saw the cages come ashore at

LAKE OF MENTEITH,

and anglers were allowed to fish the bay. Some nice fish were caught, including an 8lb brownie for Jim Litster.

Hotel Bay, Tods Hole up to Chicken Leg have been fishing well.

FRANDY FISHERY

closes today after some excellent catches

Fishing from the bank Andy Hunter from Alloa caught and released nine, Raymond Pirrie (Tullibody) had 11, Bob Mitchell (Perth) five, Tom Monaghan (Stirling) four and Wilson Orr (Tullibody) kept two for 4lb 4oz and returned three.

Fishing from the boat, Bill Ramage had four for 8lb and released three, while Perth Rotary Club took 12 fish for 27lb 7oz and released seven.

Top taking flies and lures last week included the orange blob, hothead damsel and cats whisker.
