Wright hails Saints after win at Livi
St Johnstone made it three league wins in a row and three clean sheets in a row with a controlled performance against the Premiership’s surprise package Livingston last night.
Matty Kennedy’s fifth minute goal was enough to secure three points and Perth boss Tommy Wright praised his team for their “unbelievable” response to the thrashing by Celtic.
Wright said: “It was a difficult game and we knew it would be. We were strong in defence and we thought we would have to deal with a lot of balls into the box and we did that. If I am being over critical we could have passed it a bit better.
“But when you win and keep another clean sheet it is an unbelievable response from the Celtic game.”
Wright said: “Not too many teams would show the character we have done the last three games.
“I am delighted for them. To have 17 points so far is a great start for us.”
He added: “Livingston have had a great start to the season and we matched them up to show them the respect they deserved. I think we competed for everything, which we had to do.
“They had one or two chances, while we were a bit wasteful. They are a team on form so it is a great three points.”
Livi boss Gary Holt said: “It was one of those nights – you get them in football. We’ll take it on the chin and go again.”
