Hill of Beath keep pressure on leaders with fine 3-0 victory

Central Taxis East of Scotland League Conference A

Hill of Beath maintained their challenge to leaders Penicuik Athletic with a 3-0 win in the capital against Leith Athletic.

Lewis Elder scored twice for Kevin Fotheringh­am’s side with Calum Adamson netting the other to maintain their 100% league record.

Oakley United began life with Stewart Kenny in the manager’s hot-seat with a 2-0 win at Tweedmouth. Mark Allan and Jack Cowan scored the goals to get the former Tullibody Amateurs manager’ s reign off to a positive start.

Conference B

It was a bizarre game at Kerr Court as Burntislan­d Shipyard came back from 3-1 and 4-2 down against Haddington to take a point that lifts the Fife side out of the bottom two.

Robbie Crawford put Shippy in front after two minutes but a Sandy Strang own goal levelled things up in stoppage -time.

Five minutes after the break, the visitors took the lead before a second own goal on the hour by Robert Kinnaird left the home side 3-1 down.

Ross Lennie pulled one back but Haddington restored their two-goal cushion three minutes later. Jonny Galloway scored a third for Burntislan­d before Ryan O’Donnell scored the equaliser in the last minute.

A goal from Scott Hynd in stoppage time saw Crossgates Primrose take all three points from their game at home to Tynecastle at Humbug Park.

Darren Aitken had put the Fife side in front after just three minutes but the visitors equalised midway through the half.

Calum Smith helped himself to a hat-trick in eight second-half minutes as Dundonald were comfortabl­e 5-0 winners over Dunipace at Moorside Park.

Conference C

Inverkeith­ing Hillfield Swifts are a team revitalise­d under Lee Duffy as they made it three wins from three games under the new boss, beating Stirling University 3-2 at Ballast Park. Ally Griffin scored twice, with Brodie Hamilton also on the mark.

Jeanfield Swifts remain a point behind Linlithgow Rose and Broxburn Athletic in third place after a 4-0 win at Ormiston. Chris Dodd scored twice along with Robbie Holden and Gary Fergus.

St Andrews United lost 3-1 to Blackburn United at Barnetts Park. Craig Young put the visitors in front but Ross Cunningham equalised 10 minutes later. Mark Campbell put Blackburn ahead and Darren Dow ni en et ted a third with five minutes remaining.
