Comrie man admits £31k fraud
A Fife man has admitted obtaining more than £31,000 by fraud after pretending he was authorised to receive cheques in order to pay for third party building supplies.
Steven Seivewright, of Gillespie Grove in Comrie, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court where he accepted forming the fraudulent scheme.
The 56-year-old, who carried out the offence between April and October in 2011, obtained money for building work under false pretences.
He told employees at two branches of Cash Generator in Kirkcaldy and Dunfermline that he was entitled to the cheques and managed to secure a total of £31,835.
Seivewright also entered into a contract as Holly Tree Construction with Andrew Osler and said he would carry out building works at Burnside Cottage in Cupar.
He persuaded Mr Osler to pay him with cheques which he claimed were to pay third parties for materials and services. He also took a contract to carry out building work at Stonecrest in Star, again pretending that cheques were required to pay other individuals.
He pretended to employees of Cash Generator in Dunfermline that firms known as Soltire Contracts and Buckhaven Building were run by him in the name of Holly Tree Construction.
Sheriff Craig McSherry called for reports and Seivewright will be sentenced on November 28.
