St Andrew’s Day ticket giveaway

Historic Environmen­t Scotland (HES) is giving away free admission to some of Fife’s top heritage visitor attraction­s to celebrate St Andrew’s Day.

It has thousands of free tickets on offer for some of the most significan­t sites in the country on November 24 and 25.

Dunfermlin­e Abbey and Palace and Aberdour Castle are among 35 attraction­s taking part throughout Scotland.

Joint tickets are also up for grabs for St Andrews Castle and St Andrews Cathedral.

The registrati­on for free tickets at ticketgive­away.co.uk will close at 5pm on Friday November 23.

The promotion is part of the Scottish Government’s Winter Festivals which begin with St Andrew’s Day and carry on until Burns Night.

HES director of commercial and tourism Stephen Duncan said: “Exploring our sites is a great way to learn more about Scotland’s fascinatin­g past and we want to encourage communitie­s to take a step back in time and learn more about the significan­t historic stories in their local area.

“By participat­ing in the ticket giveaway visitors will have the opportunit­y to access our iconic castles, abbeys and palaces for free over the weekend, so there is something for everyone.

“If you’ve never visited your local historic site, then this is the perfect opportunit­y as it gives visitors the unique chance to get a taste of what’s available in their area for free.”
