Tight line: Bollan in defensive plea to side

-

Cowdenbeath head to Annan with manager Gary Bollan determined his side tighten up in defence and start showing that they can be a top half of the table team.

The Blue Brazil presently sit seventh and Bollan is looking up.

He said: “Annan are sitting in the top four just now some nine points ahead of us and going there and winning would serve two purposes.

“Picking up the three points would pull us closer to where I believe we can get to and a win would also get ourselves further away from issues at the foot of the table which we do not want to get involved with.

“Annan won the first game of the season between us 2-1 at our place and in that game, we gave a goal away which is a habit we are not fully out of yet.

“There was not much between the teams and hopefully we can be on the right side of a win this time.”

The Central Park manager is still bristling over his side’s lastgasp 2-1 defeat to visitors Elgin last weekend.

He said: “It is a game we could have won. We were ahead at the break and we were ambitious in the second half in terms of trying to get a second goal.

“We had chances and never took them and then we gave away two bad goals.

“It is always disappointing not to take all the chances we are creating but the goals we are losing remains a bigger concern.

“The two against Elgin were avoidable and we have spent a lot of time this week with the players on making sure we do not make those mistakes again.

“If we cut mistakes out of our game then we have a great chance of winning at Annan and setting us up nicely for a run up the table.”

Bollan has a full squad to choose from.
