Fifers boss confident despite losing run

-

East Fife manager Darren Young has reported all is well in the Methil camp ahead of the Fife derby against Raith Rovers despite losing their last two games.

Young’s side had been flying in the early stages of autumn and racked up eight consecutive wins.

Defeats from Dumbarton and Arbroath could have caused heads to drop, however that is not the case.

The Bayview manager said: “Our performance at Arbroath was a big improvement on Dumbarton the week before and we were much more like the side we have been.

“Early in the second half when it was 0-0 we had a chance which we failed to take, and they went up the park and scored from it.

“There was a foul in the build-up and a couple of deflections went Arbroath’s way as well, however we should not have stopped, we should have played to the whistle.

“Despite the disappointment at going behind we pushed to get level and forced Arbroath back in the closing stages. We did not create much from that pressure and therefore we lost the game.

“However, we sat at the home of the league leaders after the game disappointed at losing and that is a measure of how far we have come. We will look to put that disappointment behind us against Raith.”

Young sees this game as a great chance for his side to pick up their first league success over the Kirkcaldy side in more than 20 years.

He said: “We could have won the last game between us and no one could have complained if we did. It finished 2-2 and Raith only scored through two penalties so we know that we can compete with them.

“In fact, we have played worse than we have that day and won so we can look to get three points from this one. I know it matters to the fans and hopefully we can deliver for them.”

Ross Davidson returns from suspension but Rory Currie is still out with a broken toe.
