Fish and chip shop up for award
The Fish Hoose in Thornton has been shortlisted for excellence in marketing as part of the 2019 National Fish and Chip Awards run by Seafish.
It was recognised for developing strong links with schools, including inviting groups of pupils to see firsthand the secrets of making perfect fish and chips.
Of the six shortlisted for the Marketing Innovation Award, The Fish Hoose was the only Scottish business recognised in the category.
The Thornton chip shop will now be visited again by judges, who will assess the marketing strategies of all six finalists before winners in 14 categories are announced in January.
Marcus Coleman, chief executive of Seafish, said: “The calibre of this year’s entrants is second to none.
“They have demonstrated some truly unique marketing strategies, creative thinking and the ingenuity required to set their businesses apart from competitors.
“The six finalists this year have all demonstrated passion and creative flair for innovative thinking as part of their marketing strategies, setting a high standard for their industry peers to aspire to.”
Just one Scottish chippy is in the running for the overall award.
Low’s Traditional Fish and Chips in Westhill, Aberdeenshire, is among the 10 shortlisted for the coveted Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award.
