Workshops will look to Falkland and Newton of Falkland’s future
A project which aims to shape the future of Falkland and Newton of Falkland will reach another milestone moment today.
Falkland and Newton of Falkland Community Council is holding a co-design studio as part of the Making Falkland and Newton’s Future Community Links project, with a range of workshops being held to discuss, sketch and test ideas about how the area should look over the coming years.
A project launch event was held in October which identified a number of issues which will be explored further at today’s sessions.
Those included vehicle parking making pavements inaccessible, speeding vehicles, difficulty for mobility scooters to move around, difficulty in accessing bus stops, and problems with visibility at certain road junctions.
A workshop previously held in Falkland Primary School gained the views of school children, who highlighted the importance of being able to access the local woods and hills to play in as well as problems with car parking, speeding and difficulties for cyclists on the roads.
A project spokesman said of today’s events: “The workshops will be an opportunity to share your ideas on improving walking and cycling routes, and key streets and spaces, within both villages.”
Co-design studios will be held in Falkland Community Hall from noon to 3pm and 4.30 to 7pm, with hour-long ‘show and tell’ sessions to follow each studio session.
A similar event will be held in Newton of Falkland Village Hall from 4.30 to 6pm, again with a ‘show and tell’ held from 6 to 6.30pm.
