Perth appoints racing manager

-

Matthew Taylor has been appointed in a new racing manager role and as trainee clerk of the course at Perth Racecourse.

Taylor, racecourse services executive at the Racecourse Association (RCA), will take up the post from January, while Harriet Graham continues as raceday clerk of the course until he completes his training.

Hazel Peplinski, CEO at the Scone track, said: “Matthew’s full-time appointment as racing manager is very exciting for the future of Perth Racecourse in allowing us to give our core business of horse racing the focus that it clearly deserves in an ever more competitive environment.

“Matthew’s knowledge of the racing industry, integrity and raw enthusiasm to qualify as a clerk of the course has really shone through.

“Whilst Matthew’s clerk training shall continue through much of 2019, I fully expect him to be a major asset to Perth from the minute he starts in the new year in this new role.”

A graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, Taylor’s love and knowledge of racing has expanded during his time as a deputy branch manager with William Hill, through the British Horseracing graduate scheme, and in his present role with the RCA.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining Perth Racecourse, a place with rich history for National Hunt racing.

“Scottish racing is thriving at the moment and it is great to have the opportunity to contribute to the further growth of the sport.

“The scope of the racing manager role and being a trainee clerk of the course really excites me and I cannot wait to get started.”
