Gillespie and Duggan on way back

-

Grant Gillespie is in line to return to action for Raith Rovers this weekend ahead of schedule.

The former Hamilton Accies and Dundee United midfielder has been sidelined since September 22 because of a knee injury picked up in the 1-1 draw with Montrose.

It was initially feared the 27-year-old could be absent until Christmas, but, after stepping up his rehabilitation in recent days, Gillespie could now be involved in Saturday’s Scottish Cup tie away to Queen’s Park.

Striker Chris Duggan, who has been missing since the same match because of a groin injury, has also made major progress in recent weeks and he too could return this weekend.

Manager John McGlynn said: “Grant Gillespie has been training well, and Chris Duggan.

“I’m not saying they’re definitely going to be back but they are looking like possibilities.

“We certainly wouldn’t rush anyone back. We’re monitoring players every day, how much training they do, if they’ve had any reaction to that.

“Grant’s timescale is that he’s eight weeks on and we were told 10 to 12 weeks.

“Chris has picked things up with a view to being available for selection for the Queen’s Park game, but we’ll have to see what happens.” Forfar and William Hill Scottish Cup third round opponents, Lowland League side BSC Glasgow, have agreed reduced admission prices for Saturday’s clash at Station Park.

Adult admission to either stand or terracing has been pegged at £10 with those aged 65 and over £5. Under 17s will gain admission for only £3.

Season tickets are not valid.
