Tomorrow, the focus turns back to St Andrews where the winter festival theme continues with the town’s St Andrew’s Day celebrations.

Plans for the commemoration of Scotland’s saint’s day, organised by BID St Andrews and St Andrews Community relations, include an outdoor market, live music and the Kingdom FM road show. The fun kicks off at 11am with an action-packed programme for the day.

Highlights will include what is thought to be the largest outdoor ceilidh in the world as The Kilrymont Ceilidh Band lead Strip the Willow, before the City of St Andrews Pipe Band lead a torchlight parade through the town for a fireworks spectacular at the harbour.

Not to be outdone by their neighbours, the communities of the East Neuk will be hosting their own Christmas celebrations. On December 7, the Anstruther Christmas Festival will include an appearance from Santa with real reindeer, dance and judo demonstrations, mulled wine, carol singing and more.

Also on December 7, the popular Burntisland Christmas Market will offer late night shopping, entertainment and music with craft stalls and more.

On December 15, Aberdour’s businesses will host a Christmas shopping event, when the town’s independent gift shops, galleries and salons will offer a wonderful mix of clothes, toys, jewellery, art and crafts.

A Christmas concert in St Fillan’s Church Hall will add to the festive feel.

All over Fife, Christmas markets and community events are helping people get into the Christmas spirit.

Why not seek out a festive Farmer’s Market for some truly local and traditional Christmas produce or check out the special events at many venues including Balgove Farm Shop, Loch Leven’s Larder and Falkland Palace and Bowhouse.

If you are on the hunt for special gifts for your loved ones, many of these markets will have beautiful handcrafted products on show and fantastic ideas for food lovers. Also, don’t forget to head to your local high street to support the traders who offer gifts and personal service right on your high street.
