Branching out to spread cheer

-

A Fife shopping centre is joining forces with council social workers to spearhead a campaign supporting less fortunate children in the local community this Christmas.

Hundreds of people handed in gifts to the Kingdom Centre’s Giving Tree appeal last year.

The team at the Glenrothes centre hope it will be as well received by the public again this year.

Presents will be collected at the information desk.

Anyone interested in taking part is invited to visit the tree and choose a pink or blue tag with an age range of their choice.

They are then asked to buy a gift of any value and return it to the information desk by December 17.

All of the presents will then be handed on to Fife Council’s social services team.

Staff there are ready to distribute the gifts throughout Fife to children in need in time for Christmas.

Kingdom Centre manager David Carson said the giving tree had been a huge hit with the centre’s shoppers last year and he was encouraging members of the public to get involved again this time around.

“More than 300 gifts were returned to the centre for children in the local area,” he said.

“We are once again delighted to facilitate this campaign so that we can help spread a little more festive cheer to those who may not be so fortunate at this time of year.”
