We should have won, says Wright

-

St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright insisted his side deserved to take all three points last night despite twice having to come from behind to secure a draw.

The result extended Saints unbeaten run to seven games with Wright saying: “I was disappointed to lose two points as we should have won the game.

“We were by far the better team and they never really laid a glove on us all night.

“The disappointing thing is the manner of the two goals (conceded).

“They are dangerous at set plays and we have been done at two set plays.

“But the resolve and character the boys showed to come back and totally dominate the game, there is only one team that deserved to win.

“It is great to keep the run going against a good side but in the cold light of day we shouldn’t have conceded the two goals that we did.

“We created a lot of good chances. It was a game where we will be happy with the point but disappointed we didn’t get all three.”

Saints were awarded their penalty when Hearts’ Peter Haring was adjudged to have pulled down home sub Liam Gordon.

At the final whistle Jam Tarts boss Craig Levein stormed on to the pitch to speak to ref Andrew Dallas.

When Levein was asked what he thought of the decision to give the spot-kick, he said: “What’s softer than soft?

“I have only seen three angles and I can’t see anything. I will let you guys write what you think because I will get myself into trouble.

The Hearts boss added: “I didn’t say anything untoward.”
