Courier’s Menu magazine wins supplement award

The Menu team were over the moon to win Newspaper Supplement of the Year at the PPA Scottish Magazine Awards in Glasgow on Thursday night.

The PPA Scottish Magazine Awards are the premier celebratio­n of talent in Scotland’s magazine media sector.

This year’s glitzy five-course gala dinner was held at SWG3 in Glasgow and hosted by comedian Des Clarke.

Menu was shortliste­d along with The Courier’s Weekend magazine, and NHS@70, The Times Scotland, Canongate Communicat­ions.

Menu editor Caroline Lindsay said: “Winning this award means so much to the team, especially as Menu is still a young supplement – we’re only in our second year of producing it.

“A big thanks to our chefs, columnists, bloggers and, of course, our readers.

“The award has made us even more determined to bring the best of Courier Country’s food and drink to our readers.”

The judging panel said: “The winner does exactly what you want it to, in a very stylish way, with the use of beautiful photograph­y that draws the reader in. The content inspires you – with a focus on local chefs and produce this is a supplement you will wish to keep!”

There is still time to enter The Menu Food and Drink Awards 2019 across the 11 categories:

Coffee Shop of the Year; Street Vendor of the Year; Restaurant of the Year; Chef of the Year; Farm to Fork Awards – Food and Drink; New Talent (Rising Star); Pub of the Year; and four new categories: Best Craft Beer; Best Craft Distiller; Cocktail Bar of the Year; and Best Newcomer.

The winners will be announced on March 28. The closing date for entries is January 11 2019 – and it’s free to enter.
