MILTON KEYNES LIGHTNING 4 FIFE FLYERS 2

Fife Flyers were last night shot down by rock-bottom Milton Keynes Lightning.

The Buckinghamshire side were 2-0 ahead inside 18 minutes but Fife battled back to level after 37 minutes.

But two goals in five third period minutes secured the points for the English side.

Earlier it was Robbie Ballargeon’s double after 12 and 17 minutes, the second on the power play, which put the home side in a good position.

Mike Cazzola replied for Fife after just one minute of the second period and Evan Bloodoff levelled with 37 minutes on the clock.

But that comeback was nullified when Michael Fine netted on the power play for Milton Keynes after 43 minutes and Tim Wallace ended the contest with a fourth five minutes later.

The disappointing defeat came 24 hours after beating Coventry Blaze 5-2 in Kirkcaldy.

But the 5-2 reverse was a seventh straight defeat for misfiring Coventry Blaze and coach Danny Stewart is under real pressure to turn this alarming turn around.

Carlo Finucci opened the scoring for Fife after three minutes but Coventry were level 11 minutes later when Luke Ferrara netted.

Then Fife clicked into gear. Evan Bloodoff put them ahead after 27 minutes and just over a minute later Fife were ahead.

Rising star Jordan Buesa counted after 28 minutes and Ricards Birzins made it 4-1 five minutes later.

Ben Lake pulled one back for the visitors after 53 minutes before Evan Stoflet snuffed out any home of a comeback with a late strike with less than two minutes remaining .
