Broughty Athletic secured their place in the second stage of the League Cup with a comfortable 5-1 win at Forfar Albion.

Marc Scott scored twice for Jamie McCunnie’s men alongside strikes from Ryan Blair, Brian Clark and Kevin Milne.

Broughty defender Adam Harwood put the ball in to his own net for the Albion consolation

Section B

Carnoustie need a point from their yet-to-be-arranged trip to Scone Thistle to be sure of qualification following a 7-1 win over Arbroath Vics at Laing Park.

Jamie McCabe scored the first on 11 minutes before Ryan Dignan lobbed the second on 18 minutes.

Pat Martin tapped home the third on 26 minutes from a Michael Cruickshank cross before Jamie Winter rifled home the fourth, albeit via a hefty deflection.

Martin headed home his second and Carnoustie’s fifth on 40 minutes before Liam Hardie pulled a goal back for Arbroath in stoppage time.

Cruickshank scored the sixth for Phil McGuire’s Gowfers on 73 minutes and Harvey Dailly completed the scoring with a seventh with six minutes left.

Section C

Nothing is certain in Section C following Tayport’s 3-2 win at Downfield.

Jamie Gill put Stevie Kay’s side in front on 22 minutes and on 35 minutes Jamie Mackie made it 2-0 and Tayport looked to be cruising.

Calvin Colquhoun pulled one back on 41 minutes only for Mackie to restore the two-goal lead a minute later.

The home side were determined to try and get back in to the game and Bryan Duell set up an exciting last 15 minutes when he pulled a second goal back for the Spiders but Tayport held out to go top of the section on goal difference.

Section D

Kirrie Thistle made up for last weekend’s surprise defeat to Brechin Vics with a 4-1 win over Forfar West End at Strathmore Park.

Darren Scott put the visitors in front on five minutes and made it 2-0 on the half hour only for Craig Batchelor to pull one back before half-time.

Kirrie made it 3-1 on 50 minutes through Ryan Kerrigan and a fine Greg Fairweather solo goal for number four made sure of the win with 20 minutes remaining.

Section E

East Craigie know that a win over Dundee Violet will be enough to see them progress after a 1-1 draw with Luncarty at Brownlands Park.

Sean Reekie was the East Craigie scorer on 70 minutes only for a stunned Luncarty to rally and equalise through Sean Fergus on 86 minutes. Section F

Lochee United join Broughty Athletic in the next stage after a hard-fought 2-1 win at Dundee North End.

Former Peterhead and East Fife midfielder Dougie Cameron scored from the penalty spot on 23 minutes after Greg Kirk had been brought down.

The hosts came back and deservedly equalised just after the hour, also from the spot, through ex-Forfar and Arbroath midfielder Paul Lunan after Gary Sutherland had been felled.

The winner came on 86 minutes when a Cameron cross evaded everyone and ended in the back of the net.
