Wedding venue plans for farm
A new wedding venue could be created at a farm near Cupar.
Planning permission has been sought to convert agricultural buildings at Pitbladdo Farm, just over a mile north of the town, to allow it to host functions.
Seggie Farms at Guardbridge says weddings could be held there on weekends between March and October.
The applicant’s agent said minor alterations would be required to the redundant steading and former cattle shed, immediately west of the farmhouse.
Parking spaces would be created immediately north-east of the steading and a new access route opened up on to the C29 north of the existing farm road.
Agent Montgomery Forgan Associates said there were no houses nearby which did not belong to the farm, so there would be no amenity issues for neighbours.
It said: “The applicant is seeking to diversify their traditional agricultural operations in an environmentally acceptable manner without altering their essential character or traditional appearance.
“The proposals will provide local job opportunities and will provide a positive contribution to the rural economy in northeast Fife.
Based on a maximum of 170 guests, the applicant’s transport assessment concluded there would be a negligible increase in the number vehicles using the local road network.
