Public asked to give views on Glencraig boundary change

-

A consultation on a contentious Fife boundary change affecting Glencraig has opened.

Fife Council is seeking opinions on the proposal to shift the community council boundary between Lochgelly and Benarty.

It follows a petition from various community groups in the Benarty area asking for a change.

The proposal is to move the existing boundary, which follows the line of the Loch Fitty burn, to a line running between Fife Cycle Park and Lochgelly High School.

The council’s community and housing committee agreed to commission a review at its meeting last month.

Community services manager Andrew Ferguson said: “We want to make sure that we have as many views as possible, from both of the affected communities. These views will help elected members to come to their decisions when the review is completed.

“Anyone in the Lochgelly and Benarty community can take part either online or by filling in one of the consultation forms.”

People can take part in the consultation between now and January 31 by going online to www.fifedirect.org.uk/ boundarysurvey, popping in to Lochgelly Centre or Benarty Community Centre and completing a response sheet, or sending a copy of the response to Mr Ferguson at Fife House, Glenrothes, KY7 5LT.

The review team will also seek the opinions of local groups.
