Mr Bonar Law, speaking at a great assembly in London, said we were going into a Peace Conference, and it was necessary for us to have representa­tives who voiced the wishes of the nation and a House of Commons which represente­d the nations. We had no right to dictate the terms of peace, but we had a right to dictate what our views of that peace were. The Government had decided that they would demand the trial of the Kaiser, and would place that view before the conference.

Kirkcaldy Housing Committee have approved a developmen­t of two to four-storey houses comprising about 300 homes for the Sinclairto­wn redevelopm­ent area. The decision was taken by five votes to three in preference to a suggestion that the matter should be deferred until officials could provide a report on a multi-storey developmen­t. Mr D.R. MacGregor, burgh architect, said the plan would allow folk to get a goodqualit­y house with landscapin­g, car parking and open space.

Magical is the only word to describe the feelings of five Dundee children who flew to France to join the guests for Mickey Mouse’s Worldwide Kids’ Party at Euro Disney. With several thousand other deserving youngsters from all over Europe, the children flew to Paris to take part in what must rank as the biggest 65th birthday party ever staged. To celebrate the birthday of the world’s favourite rodent, Disney cast its spell over 6,500 smiling faces, as the children enjoyed the holiday of a lifetime.

A Fife buffalo farmer has offered a reward after one of his herd escaped. The 400kg beast managed to break free while being weighed and was last seen heading in the direction of Cardenden Woods. Stevie Mitchell, of Buffalo Farm, said the animal posed no danger to the public and he was becoming concerned about its welfare. “It’s a yearling and is not fully grown,” he said. It’s probably about 350 to 400kg. It’s got quite small horns and would be more scared of you than you are of it.”
