Primary school praised for working well with parents
A Fife school has been praised for its welcoming environment.
Education Scotland inspectors found pupils at Inverkeithing Primary were enthusiastic and the school was benefiting from working with parents.
The head teacher Caroline Gardiner was praised for her leadership and for creating a “valued community”. Staff initiatives for personal learning were another highlight.
The school was rated good at raising attainment and achievement in the inspection report, issued this week.
It was also given a satisfactory rating in the categories of leadership of change, learning, teaching and assessment and ensuring wellbeing, equality and inclusion.
Inspectors said the school should further improve selfevaluation and the methods used by staff to assess and monitor children’s progress. Ms Gardiner said: “We are very proud of the hard work that children, staff, parents and partners put into our school.
“Partnerships are a great strength at Inverkeithing Primary and we’re very pleased this has been highlighted by our inspection team.
“The report has also highlighted areas where we can continue to improve and we aim to consider these carefully as part of our ongoing school improvement work.”
Fife Council education manager Deborah Davidson said she was pleased the school’s positive work with pupils, staff and the wider community had been recognised.
“We will continue to work in collaboration with the school to address areas for improvement,” she added.
