Tayport fail to capitalise

-

It was a game of two halves at the Canniepairt as Tayport went down 2-1 to Whitburn in the Super League.

The home side dominated the first half and deservedly went in front thanks to a Josh Chalmers goal on the half-hour but despite their dominance, Stevie Kay’s side went in at the break level as Darren Liddell equalised in stoppage time.

The second half was all Whitburn but the winner didn’t come until the 89th minute, courtesy of Grant Hamilton.

The result sees the Lothian side jump above both Broughty Athletic and Lochee United to go top of the league although they have played four more than United and three more than Broughty.

The game at Warout Stadium between Glenrothes and Broughty Athletic was postponed.
