A Fife man is to stand trial accused of exposing himself to young girls and women following a series of incidents in Kirkcaldy.

William Vanbeck appeared at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Wednesday and pled not guilty to all charges against him.

The 40-year-old is accused of exposing his genitals towards a woman on St Kilda Crescent on January 24.

He is also charged with flashing his private parts towards three 12-yearold girls at Farne Court in the town on February 9.

Vanbeck also faces a charge of assault whereby he allegedly grabbed one of the youngsters by the body during the same incident.

He is also accused of acting in a threatening or abusive manner on various occasions between February 6 and 9 at Dalmahoy Crescent.

Vanbeck is charged with repeatedly jumping out from behind trees, shouting, swearing and repeatedly chasing a young girl along the roadway, placing her in a state of fear or alarm.

A fifth charge alleges that on February 10, he acted in a threatening manner or abusive manner by again jumping out from behind shrubbery.

He is then said to have chased a 16-year-old girl along the roadway, placing her in a state of fear or alarm.

The victims cannot be named for legal reasons.

Vanbeck was released on bail but has had special conditions attached which ban him from entering Kirkcaldy.

The accused will stand trial on May

30. An intermediate diet is set for May

17.

Police Scotland had earlier warned women to be on the guard following reports of man approaching females and exposing himself in the area.

But they yesterday confirmed they had arrested a 40-year-old man in connection with the incidents.

Vanbeck, formerly of Tiree Place in Kirkcaldy, is now understood to be residing on Leven Road in Kennoway.
