Teams back in action

-

While Dundee Wanderers’ international duo of Charlotte Watson and Emily Dark head to Rome for next week’s series against Italy, the domestic league emerges from winter closure.

Defending champions Edinburgh University are neck and neck at the head of the field with Clydesdale Western.

However, with the latter representing Scotland at this weekend’s EuroHockey Indoor Trophy in Vienna, the students will be keen to forge ahead.

Their task is not altogether straightforward as third-placed Western Wildcats will fancy their chances of clawing back the three points lost in a single goal defeat during their first clash of the season.

Wanderers complete the top four and are tipped to cement their status with a home win over Watsonians.

Grove Menzieshill are without a game having been due to host Clydesdale at Disc.

St Andrews University are riding high in Division 2.

A fruitful trip to the capital would keep them on course to contest promotion.

Sadly, Dundee University’s prospects are not so bright despite home advantage over Kelburne.

Grove’s second string, safely midtable in Championship I, entertain George Heriot’s at Dawson Park, while there is double local interest in the Champ II clash at Riverside between Dundee University II and Perthshire.
