More injury woe for Hoban as Cosgrove rescues Dons

-

Derek McInnes faces an anxious wait to discover the severity of the Tommie Hoban knee injury that overshadowed the 2-2 draw with Ladbrokes Scottish Premier League basement boys St Mirren yesterday.

Hoban, who joined the Dons on loan from Watford in the summer after recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, missed much of the first half of this term with a shoulder injury that required surgery.

He now faces another lengthy absence after his studs caught in the Pittodrie turf just before half-time yesterday.

Brighter news for the Dons came in the form of an announcement that goalscorer Lewis Ferguson has agreed an extended contract .

Sam Cosgrove rescued a point for the Dons in the Pittodrie thriller.

Ferguson had levelled Duckens Nazon’s 20th minute penalty opener. The Buddies were back in front through Kyle McAllister, before Cosgrove found the net to make it 2-2.

Paul Heckingbottom enjoyed a winning start to his Easter Road reign as Hibernian beat Hamilton 2-0.

First-half goals from Florian Kamberi and Marc McNulty, from the penalty spot, handed new head coach Heckingbottom three Ladbrokes Premiership points.

Hibs were well worth their halftime lead and Hamilton could not get the breakthrough they needed to avert Brian Rice’s first defeat in three matches as head coach despite an improved second-half performance.

“There were pleasing things but you can also see things that we really want to improve on,” the new Hibs head coach said.

“A lot of it we are going to have to accept, we are a young side and we have got a naivety to us. But that doesn’t necessarily have to be a bad thing.
