Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess to headline music festival.
Tim Burgess will close the Saturday night with a DJ set at Dunfermline event
Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess will headline the music line-up for this year’s Outwith Festival.
It has been announced the singer will DJ at the event, which runs in various venues across Dunfermline from September 3 to 8 and includes an eclectic line-up.
He will close the Saturday night following sets by Edinburgh band Idlewild, Glasgow favourites Honeyblood and New York-based Willieam McCarthy, who was formerly with Augustines.
With a DJ career that has led to guest slots on BBC Radio 6, Tim’s playlist includes northern soul, hip hop and indie.
Fife band The Domiciles, who have a devoted following, have also just been added to the line-up.
A £20 ticket gives access to seven town centre venues – PJ Molloys, Lourenzos, Royal British Legion, Life, Monty’s, La Menta and 1703 – to see more than 50 bands and DJs on Saturday September 7.
This gives entry to a DJ night at new venue 1703 which includes DJ Rebecca Vasmant, star of the Glasgow Club scene, whose fusion of jazz and electronic sounds secured a regular spot on BBC Radio Scotland’s The Jazz House.
Other DJs include EQ collective and High Tea.
The live music day on the Saturday is part of the six-day arts festival, which also includes comedy, film, theatre, literature and family events.
Additional music events during the festival include jazz saxophonist Tommy Smith, who will play in Dunfermline Abbey, and James Yorkston, creator of the successful Tae Sup Wi’ A Fifer, performing with Withered Hand.
Scottish Punk trailblazer Fay Fife, lead singer of legendary band The Rezillos, will perform as Countess of Fife, or, as an alternative, the Band of the Scots Guards will play in Dunfermline Abbey.
Chris Foote, events manager with Dunfermline Delivers, which organises the festival inconjunction with Avocado Sweet, Fire Station Creative and Write Rammy, said: “This is a special chance to see UK musicians of high quality alongside very talented local musicians.
“Tickets are going fast and we’re on course to sell out.”
He added: “The music programming team has been working hard all year to finalise the line-up and venues.
“It’s also great to see venues and local musical societies programming some fantastic shows as part of Outwith.”
The Outwith Festival has received funding from EventScotland, Carnegie Dunfermline Trust, Fife Council and Fife Events Fund.
